Butterflies are Super Nice (2015)
... features some butterflies I received from the Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre (BBC) in Cambodia. All of the butterflies were collected after they died natural deaths. The first project involved over 30,000 photos for the initial 'yellow' butterfly, but unfortunately, due to a hard disk failure, I lost most of the data. Weeks after this incident, I am beginning to recover and continue working with these mystical and beautiful creatures.
As a child, I believed that the scales on a butterfly's wings were pixie dust when they adhered to my fingers. My photomicrographs demystify this notion but aim to cloak butterflies with a new layer of magic by providing greater insight into their anatomy.
